Dr. Hayes is a native San Diegan who earned his Bachelors of Science in Physiological Science at the University of California, Los Angeles. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry (S.C.C.O.) and then completed a residency in Pediatric Optometry and Vision Therapy at S.C.C.O.

Dr. Hayes practices full-scope family optometry including comprehensive vision evaluations for children and adults, the treatment and management of eye disease including glaucoma, contact lens fitting, laser vision consultation, myopia control, and computer vision evaluations.

In addition to family optometry, his practice includes comprehensive visual efficiency/visual perceptual evaluations and the treatment of learning-related vision problems, strabismus (eye turn), and amblyopia. He also provides sports vision evaluations and vision examinations for special needs populations including visually impaired children and patients with stroke or traumatic brain injury.

Dr. Hayes is currently a vision consultant for local school districts and Sharp Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation Center. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and rooting for his children at their sporting events.

Dr. Hayes is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, and the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association.

Dr. Emily Thai is a graduate of UC Irvine where she graduated with a B.S. in Public Health. She spent her undergraduate years cultivating her interest in healthcare which eventually brought her to the world of optometry. She attended Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry in Pomona, CA where she received her doctorate. She had the opportunity to complete her clinical externships at various locations across the U.S. including Veterans Affairs hospitals in Columbia, South Carolina and Orlando, Florida and private practices in Honolulu, HI and Cincinnati, OH. It was during these rotations that she learned extensively about ocular disease management (including diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, and macular degeneration), refractive and cataract surgery co-management, contact lenses, and primary care.

Dr. Thai is an active member of the San Diego County Optometric Association. While she is a native of Los Angeles, CA, she has found a home she loves in San Diego with her husband and rescue pup. They all enjoy spending time outdoors in the sunshine. Her favorite part of being an optometrist is meeting patients from all walks of life and nurturing these relationships year after year.

Dr. Sarah Kasai grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She attended Pacific University College of Optometry, obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Vision Science in 2009 and a Doctorate of Optometry in 2012.

Dr. Kasai enjoys spending time with her family exploring San Diego and discovering the National Parks within California. In her spare time, Dr. Kasai loves watching hockey and is a big Edmonton Oilers fan.
